A Snowy Halloween

At daycare today, Ashton got to hit a pinata for Halloween.

It looks like she did a pretty good job.  She got to take a bag of candy home from the poor mutilated pig.

When we got home, it had been raining all day.

The weather last weekend was amazingly beautiful and warm and this Halloween the exact opposite.  It was windy, cold, and raining/snow mix!!  It was terrible!

We planned to go trick-or-treating with Ms. D and her boys, like we did last year.  So we got Ashton in her costume!

She was the Angelina Jolie version of Maleficent.  This was a size 7 costume.  But for the kids that wear it, it's only tea length.  By bringing in the waist, it was floor length dress and long sleeved.  Perfect!  She had her amazing wings.  They were awesomely textured and had hints of purple in them.  Unfortunately, we don't have pictures from the back.  I'm thinking we should "retake" photos tomorrow outside when it warmer and not raining to get the full effect of her costume.  The horns that came with the costume were fine.  But they weren't as cool as the light up horns.  Of course the light up horns were a bigger size.  So we took both in case the light up horns became too much of a hassle while trick-or-treating.  For fun, I put them on for a moment.

We met up with Ms. D and her 2 sons, and Ashton freaked out.  She was terrified of their costumes.  One was a yellow Angry Bird, and the other was a Creeper from Minecraft.  She had us hold her the whole time.  So we couldn't take pictures.

We headed out and it was raining.  So we had our umbrellas out.  The wind was blowing so Ashton was cold.  We made it to about 4 houses, and Ashton had enough.  She was whining and saying she was cold.  So we decided to take her to the mall for trick-or-treating.  Ms D and her kids decided so as well.

We went to the mall and it was a mistake.  It was WORSE than going to the mall on Black Friday.  It was more packed and you could barely move an inch.  You'd get in line and wait forever to get to the store passing out candy and you'd get 1 tootsie roll!  It was awful!  So not worth it.  So we decided we'd take our kids to the Disney Store inside to have fun.

There were tons of Elsa costumes from "Frozen", and I was excited to think Ashton was the ONLY Maleficent in Indianapolis.  I was wrong.  We found another that the Disney Store.

But sine it was just a headpiece and not the whole costume, we decided it didn't count against Ashton's costume.

The crowds were terrible, so Ms. D and her kids decided to call it a night.  Ashton had fun running around the store looking at stuff.  Then we headed home too.

Upon going home, we thought it'd be funny to have her photo taken by the Christmas display on the way out.

Then my husband spotted something either funny, sad, or sorta cool.  We're on the fence...

I mean Darth shouldn't be wearing a Santa hat, but making a snowball Death Star is funny.  So not to sure...  What a way to end the terrible night.

But driving home in the snow and crazy wind, we stopped by the Fazoli's drive thru and picked up some amazingly buttery, garlicy breadsticks!!!  They were Heaven!!

The I gave Ashton a warm bath and some candy.  She loved trying them out to find what she liked or not.  There wasn't much to choose from, so we let her eat it.

So this Halloween was a bust, but that's okay.  Ashton looked great, we got out anyhow, and we'll take better photos tomorrow in 10 degree warmer weather.  It's supposed to be 44 degrees tomorrow.

Ghost Basket

Ashton got a ghost basket, I mean gift basket from Grammy and Grampy today.

Ashton loved it, but thought the ghost was a snowman.  I thought she'd name the ghost Olaf!  So, Snowman the Ghost, I think it is!

There were amazing goodies inside!  One caught my attention more than the others.  Wonder why?

Red Thread Candy & Confection... who knew?

Also on a different subject altogether, Ashton's daycare asked me to bring Ashton in panties tomorrow instead of a diaper.  I told them I had pull-ups, and they said that'd do!  My girl is on her way to being a BIG girl!

Those Blurs are My Daughter

At Ashton's new daycare, they offer tumbling/gymnastics class once a week.  We didn't know if it was an expense we could manage, but we saved up for her to take a few of the sessions.

I wish I could be there to see it, but since it's during daycare/working hours, I have to trust what I hear and see.

Today these posted on the daycare's Facebook page.  They're not the best quality, but they show you how active she is.

Those blurs are my girl!  You go girl!!!

I learned upon picking her up that there is one good student and one exceptional student.  My girl was the exceptional student.  They said she had great form and posture!  Isn't that great?!?

Mystery Green Plate

Saw this posted on her daycare's Facebook page.

I know she's painting a paper plate green here, but as to why, I don't know.  Doesn't look very Halloween-y to me.  Will hope to find out in the coming days.

To the Park with Khaleesi and Ashton

Khaleesi got to play with Simon, her litter mate today at the park for a couple hours.  At this park was also a playground for Ashton.  She loved it.  My husband and I took turns swapping with the dalmatian and our daughter.

Upon our return home, we decided to try the harness we bought months ago.   Khaleesi now fits into it.  We took pictures of her and Ashton together.  Ashton was instant on holding her face up for the photo, and Ashton was so gentle and Khaleesi didn't mind.  Those two are so cute together!

Khaleesi is now 5 months old!  And Ashton is 3 years old.  They're growing up so quickly.

The Fox Theme Birthday Party

I asked Ashton months ago, what kind of theme she wanted for her birthday.  I gave her lots of choices.  But she always came to the same conclusion.  She wanted a Fox party.  So a fox party it was to be.

Fox party items are hard to come by.   but I love a challenge, love that her party is original, and knew I could do it, especially since I knew she'd love it.

I'd been designing her birthday banner, butting foxes from designs I bought from online to make confetti, hanging foxes, lanterns... it was crazy.

It was so great to see it come together.

I also want to give a shout out to my mother, who helped make cupcakes, shop with me to get cups, streamers, forks, tablecloths, and help cut another fox!  I appreciate all of your help and time.

I didn't take lots of pictures of the decorations form Ashton's 2nd birthday.  And I didn't want to make that mistake again.

I got balloons, but the amazing one was the 1 balloon I ordered online.  I found a fox balloon in the shape of the number 3.  There were numbers 1-9 and they were all of different animals.  Only the 3 was a fox.  Perfect!  I had to get it!!

I then cut 20 foxes and taped them to green and blue m&ms in small bags.  They looked so cute.

I found cookies on Etsy that I could order in foxes!  Score!!

Then I cut out foxes for the paper lanterns I hung around the rooms,  I had 1 fox extra and used him on the front door.

I used the same fox patterns for her birthday banner I designed.

I found this cake on Pintrest.  They took a crown pan and flipped it around and made a fox out of it.  My husband made Ashton's cake last year, and was excited to do it again this year.

I thought for goodies for the kids coming I'd give them the fox M&ms, bubbles, and fox masks that I found online as well.  The fox masks were a pain to cut!  Ashton's makes was found at Party City... but she never wanted to wear it at the party.

I also found some great fox items at Walmart.  A salt and pepper shaker set (seen above the fox masks) and found plates, bowls, cups, and cookie jar.  They were all cheap too!  So i thought they'd be great for the party and for Ashton to use after.

Found this great dress for Ashton to wear.  It was perfect.  What's funny is I scoured high and low for a brown onesie and tight to go with it, and today was the perfect day.  So no long sleeves, and no tights.  It was 73 degrees!!!  Insane!!!

I also used the foxes in the swirly handing decorations.  I had them front and back so that no matter how they spun you'd see the foxes.  So everything was coming together, the fox confetti, cake, walmart dish set, the fox bags, masks, banner... It was awesome.

Then for the pizza and present room, I found great Happy Birthday Fox plates and napkins, which set the color tone of her party.  I also found a great pinata.  An actual fox pinata.  Now all that needs to be added are guests.

But what party isn't great without some dancing?

Everyone had a good time mingling and eating pizza and candy.  Then it was time for cake!  Yay cake!!

The cake was well and good, but the kids were geared up for the pinata.

Everyone had their turn.

Then there were presents, then it was time for many to go home.  Luckily, Miss G. and Mr. D. who live next door stuck around, along with Miss A who lives on the other side of town and we don't get to see much.  They all hung out.  It was so cute to see them together.

Here are the 3 Cul-de-sac kids!  Mr. D born July '11, Ashton October '11, and Miss G September '12.

Super sweet!

Is this the new Rat Pack?

Then Ashton begged to go outside and blow bubbles, the other kids eagerly agreed.  So we did so.

Then of course we did a four-generations photo.

The beginning was a blur, a flurry of activity and checking on different people and getting things done.  But the end with just a handful of kids, we parents kicked back and just enjoyed the God blessed day and soaking in the fun our kids were having.

Ashton had a blast, but man... it was exhausting.  I wanted nothing but to soak in a hot bath afterwards, but no we cleaned up and had to get Ashton to bed and I had to blog about the experience.  I loved today as much as Ashton did.  Just wish I had half her energy to do what needed to be done.
What great memories of family and friends!  These are the moments!
