Today we got up to Shi Qing standing in her crib trying to climb out and making noises to wake us up. It worked. We rushed to her side and her diaper though messy, was not a blow out. Yay!!! We got her dressed quickly and off to breakfast.
Man, did she love breakfast. She had scrambled eggs, cucumber, congee, bread, noodles, watermelon, and apple juice. She's like my husband, can eat anything, a lot of it and doesn't gain an ounce.
After breakfast we were walking up and down the halls. We then got on the bus to get our adoption certificates to say we are her parents in the eyes of China. It went smoothly. Shi Qing was a bit fussy (hungry), but did really well when she could walk around or snack.
Then it was off to start the passport info. We went to the notary and did some paperwork. There are no elevators so we have to walk up 6 flights of stairs. When we came down, Shi Qing thought it was the funniest thing. We'd go down the stairs and she'd laugh at the landing when turning to go down the other side. It was a game to her!
Then we had the rest of the day free. So we came back and had lunch while Shi Qing had a nap. During her nap she peed through her clothes. (We're running low on clothing! We're going to do a laundry sink cleaning of her clothes tomorrow night.)
When she awoke she wanted to play so we did for a time and then took her out to see if we could find any smaller clothes or shoes that would fit. Be as it may, In China because of all the layers, we could find hardly anything that would fit her. And if it did most was the split pants variety. So we ended up with only 1 outfit, 1 pj, and 1 top. But we did find a cute pink pair of shoes with a bear on it. (No squeeky shoes... guess that's Guangzhou.)
We then went to Walmart for some basics and got back to the hotel. We tried to put her in the baby carrier and she freaked out. It didn't matter if it was mommy or daddy. So we gave up and just carried her. (And funny, today she seemed to prefer me. She'd go to whomever would hold her, but her preference was me.)
We played some more and ate some more. Then we tried a bath, again. Different tactics. We put daddy in the tub with toys and in his swim trunks. I then carried her over and tried to get her near and she'd start to panic. She would have no part of it. So, we gave her a sponge bath. Were going to try and slowly warm her up to the idea. We tried taking her staking cups in and us with her, but to no avail.
She fights sleep every time but after about 15 minutes of fighting it, she succumbs She's been out like a light since. She's thrasher like her mama. It's going to take time for me to get used to it. I jump up awake every time she moves. I keep thinking she's awake. I hope I learn to sleep through it. Luckily, I've been so tired, I fall right back to sleep.
My arms and back ache. But she's worth it.
